Appland is a cloud computing company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, that develops white label app store solutions for mobile operators, mobile devices, online communities, smart TVs, connected vehicles and internet of things.

Appland team wanted to revamp their website to create a fun experience for their users. They wanted to create a contemporary and vibrant visual language for their website. 

They aimed to establish a contemporary and vibrant visual language that would reflect their brand’s energy while resonating with a modern digital audience. To bring this vision to life, we collaborated closely with their team to define a cohesive visual direction across both their website and mobile application. This included developing a distinct design system—spanning typography, color palettes, iconography, and imagery—that ensured consistency and clarity across all touchpoints.

We followed a structured, user-centric design process—beginning with assessing the current experience, then strategizing and defining user personas to understand the expanded audience. This was followed by ideation and prototyping to explore solutions, leading into final design and testing to ensure a seamless, engaging, and effective user experience. The design phase focused on refining these concepts into a cohesive and visually compelling system, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints while maintaining usability and accessibility. Finally, through testing, we validated the designs with real users, gathering feedback to further optimize the experience.

We created user personas to gain a deeper understanding of the new market the brand wanted to tap into. These personas informed the development of a design language that could effectively cater to and resonate with a wider, more diverse audience.

In the ideation phase, multiple concepts and creative directions were explored, allowing us to experiment with different approaches to user engagement and visual storytelling. These ideas were then translated into wireframes and prototypes, enabling early visualization of user journeys and interactions.

We designed a comprehensive range of website pages to support both user engagement and business objectives, including key sections such as the About Us, Partner, and Support pages. Each of these was crafted to clearly communicate the brand’s story, enable seamless collaboration with partners, and provide intuitive assistance to users.

The overall visual language of the website was designed to be vibrant and energetic, reflecting the brand’s playful and content-rich ecosystem. Through the use of bold colors, engaging imagery, and intuitive layouts, the design aimed to create an immersive and lively experience while maintaining clarity and ease of navigation across all pages.

In addition, we developed more dynamic and conversion-focused experiences such as the Gaming page, Subscription page, and multiple Landing pages. These were tailored to showcase content in an engaging way, drive user interaction, and encourage sign-ups and app discovery through clear hierarchies and compelling visuals.

The project transformed Appland's digital identity into a cohesive and engaging brand experience. Through a carefully crafted visual system, the website and mobile application were unified by a contemporary design language that enhanced usability, strengthened brand recognition, and reflected Appland's forward-thinking approach to technology.
